Born in 1972 in Kyoto, Ms Asuka Hishiki grew up surrounded by nature books and the parks and gardens of her hometown — an environment that nurtured her early curiosity and deepened her enduring fascination with the natural world. She earned a Master’s degree in Fine Art (Painting) from the Kyoto City University of Arts, after which she spent a decade in New York, while also traveling extensively to further develop her artistic practice.
|
Since then, Ms Hishiki’s works have been exhibited internationally, including in the USA, the UK, Germany, Australia, and the Republic of Korea. In addition to exhibiting, she has conducted workshops and received numerous accolades, most notably the Diane Bouchier Artist Award for Excellence in Botanical Art from the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) in 2018. Her upcoming exhibition will be held at the Botanical Art Gallery in the Singapore Botanic Gardens from 13 March to 15 November 2026.
