Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth with a history of over 1000 years. It started out as a fabric to store precious items, and was later used by the samurais where they used cloths decorated with their family crests to wrap their kimono and belongings during bath time at shogun’s mansion.
During Edo period, the use of furoshiki spread across Japan as a carrier to wrap and transport items on a daily basis. The use of furoshiki continues today and it now comes in various materials and beautiful designs.
