In conjunction with the Japanese Film Festival Online 2024, we have a specially curated Masterclass with Prof Deborah Shamoon from the Department of Japanese Studies, National University of Singapore, highlighting two films from the festival — 24 Eyes (1954) based on a novel by Sakae Tsuboi and Father of the Milky Way Railroad (2023) which explores the life of Miyazawa Kenji, a Japanese poet and children's literature author.
Emphasising the close proximity relationship between literature and film adaptation, audiences can discover common issues encountered while adapting novels to films through the masterclass. Join us to discover more about Prof Deborah's insights, and we will have a short Q&A session after the sharing to answer any burning questions.
