Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Singapore-Japan Diplomatic Relations (SJ50) this year, Japan Creative Centre (JCC), Embassy of Japan in Singapore together with Chado Urasenke Tankokai Singapore Association and Liu Xiang Tea Craft will be holding an exhibition - The Way of Tea: Tea Culture of Singapore and Japan - that showcases a cultural exchange of tea cultures found in the two countries.

Visitors of all ages will be able to appreciate and learn more about Japanese tea, Chinese tea, English tea, and even the local favourite Teh Tarik. There will also be tea lectures and demonstrations with guided tour on Saturdays. Admission is free - do not miss this exclusive and unique opportunity to experience the tea of both worlds!

  Aesthetics of Sen Genshitsu: Japanese Art in Chado
鵬雲斎千玄室大宗匠来星記念『大宗匠展』

8 - 23 April 2016

Dr. Genshitsu Sen (Urasenke Grand Master XV) is widely known as a global-minded promoter both of the culture embraced by the Way of Tea and of World Peace. At age ninety-three and a Japanese veteran of the Pacific War, he continues to travel the world to spread "Peacefulness through a Bowl of Tea."

He is a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and Japan-UN Goodwill Ambassador. This special exhibition presents a selection of Dr. Sen’s calligraphy works and implements reflecting his ethos and aesthetic taste in the Japanese Way of Tea.
