28 August 2025
Japan Creative Centre (JCC)
Join us for a talk by contemporary Japanese artists, co-organised by Japan Creative Centre (JCC) and Mizuma Gallery. Curators Nakagawa Daichi, Takakurakazuki and Toyokawa Yasutaka explore the relationship between contemporary art, tokusatsu (live-action films and television dramas that heavily utilize special effects) and video game culture, through a Japanese lens. They will also give an introduction to the exhibition ART BIT MATRIX -TOKUSATSU to VIDEO GAME- which will take place at Mizuma Gallery.
A round table discussion and Q&A with six of the exhibiting artists will follow. After the talk, guests will be able to experience two of the video game works, SPACE INVADIANS (by Nishijima Daisuke) and MANIYUGI TOKOYO (by Takakurakazuki), as well as interact with the other exhibiting artists - contact Gonzo, Daisuke Nishijima, Hayaki Nishigaki, Romana Machin Tanimura, Sawako Kageyama, Shun Okada, Takumi Hirayama, Tomoya Kuki, Yoshihiro Takeuchi and Yume Aoyama. |
