Japan Creative Centre (JCC) and Interactive & Digital Media Institute, National University of Singapore are jointly organizing the symposium, seminar and exhibition on Media Art, featuring Naoko Tosa, one of the leading contemporary artists in Japan. This series of events aims to deepen the understanding of Japan's creative capability and to facilitate networking of specialists of Japanese Media Art.

1. SYMPOSIUM

Professor Naoko Tosa will be making a key note speech on the history & future of Media Art. During the event, Professor Tosa will lead the panelists in a discussion on popularizing Media Art in Singapore. Panelists taking part in the evening are as follows,

PROFILE OF NAOKO TOSA

Naoko Tosa believes as her artistic concept that "various cultures in the world are connected just as one culture from the ancient time of human history at unconsciousness level overcoming nationalism". Connecting this concept to a computer, she has created a new concept called "Cultural Bit", creating a new frontier of art products to lead society to a richer future. Covering a wide range of areas, Naoko Tosa's art includes digital painting, video arts, art documentary, augmented reality art just to name a few.

Naoko Tosa' video art works have been collected at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, exhibited at the New York Metropolitan Art Museum and other locations internationally. In 2000, she received prizes from the Interactive Art section in ARS Electronica, as well as a 2nd Prize for Nabi Digital Storytelling Competition of Intangible Heritage, organized by UNESCO2004.
