Nodame Cantabile:
The Final Score-Part II

Saturday, 23 June 2012
2:00pm to 5:00pm
(Registration starts at 1:30pm)

The Japan Creative Centre invites you to join us at our JCC film screening and creative session. As part of JCC's creative program, we will be screening exciting Japanese movies at the end of every month. The screening will then be followed by an informative sharing session where guest speakers will share their thoughts and insights on all things Japanese!

For our 12th session, we will be screening "Nodame Cantabile: The Final Score-Part II", a second movie sequel of the live-action drama Nodame Cantabile. The movie is a combination of romance, comedy and music, especially classical music. The movie is based on an adaption of Tomoko Ninomiya's manga series "Nodame Cantabile", and the manga is based on a real life person, Megumi Noda.

Mr. Peng Chi Sheng is the Director at InTune Music School and has 10 years of music teaching experience in Singapore. With multiple qualifications including that in Grade 8 (Theory and Practical) Classical Piano from the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), he specializes in pop songwriting and pop keyboard.

Synopsis of Film

Director: Yasuhiro Kawamura, Hideki Takeuchi
Cast: Juri Ueno, Hiroshi Tamaki & Eita

As Chiaki Shinichi forges ahead with his new career as resident conductor of the Roux-Marlet Orchestra, the distance between him and Nodame grows as he moves to a new place to concentrate on his music, leaving her behind. The increasing contrast between Chiaki’s rapid ascent to new heights in his career, and Nodame’s continual struggle for progress as a “mere” Conservatoire student only makes the strain in their relationship even more apparent. With their romance fraying at the seams even as it is getting more intimate, it will take a crisis for them to reevaluate what is most important, and music to realize what they mean to each other
