Immerse yourself in the deep, alluring aroma of coffee and its surprisingly harmonious pairing with traditional Japanese sweets. Japan Creative Centre (JCC), Embassy of Japan is honoured to host Coffee Specialists from Okada Coffee and Sweets, Ms Okada Yoshiko and Mr Kubota Yohei, to share their vast knowledge and experience of Japanese coffee culture through demonstrations of the precise Japanese method of hand drip coffee and wagashi-making.

About the Ceremony Master

Ms Okada Yoshiko, the owner of both Okada Coffee Japan and Okada Sweets Singapore, is the 3rd generation owner of Okada Coffee, which was established in 1945. She is a Coffee Specialist and Patissier with more than 30 years of experience.

She roasts excellent coffee green beans in her own distinctive way to provide high quality coffee which has been loved by her customers for many years. Her Japanese-styled cakes are also loved by Okada Coffee fans.

Her mission here in Singapore will remain as it is in Japan, to produce an explosion of tasty coffee and cakes in the Lion City.

Mr Yohei Kubota, a 29 year old Coffee Specialist, was the Champion of Whole Japan Hand Drip Competition 2017. He now heads the Okada Coffee satellite shop in Kami Tori – Kumamoto.

With his passion and vast knowledge of hand drip coffee, he would like to share with audiences his experience in hand drip coffee culture and experiences. He also organises the annual Coffee Festival in Kumamoto and is expanding this 3rd wave of coffee culture to the world.
