Furoshiki are traditional Japanese cloths used to wrap small objects. They are an expression of Japan's unique "wrapping culture". With the focus on environmental problems in recent years, furoshiki are attracting renewed attention as they can be used over and over again. The Japan Foundation is pleased to announce its Second International Furoshiki Design Contest for students—specifically, university and vocational school students around the world who are the designers of the future. For Singapore, entry is open to individuals or groups (aged 17 and above) engaged in the study of design or related subjects at university, polytechnic and junior college and residing in Singapore. (Students of any nationality are welcome to enter the contest.)
