On the 12th and 13th March 2016, Ms Kaho Irie & Mr Yosuke Irie an "OYAKO" mother son duo gave a special performance entitled "Blowing in the SAKURA Wind: Sounds from Japan" at the Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome. This "Blossoms Beats" opening ceremony performance was organised to welcome the spring season of Tokyo and it marks the first sakura blooming in Singapore as well. |
Mr Yosuke Irie is a Shaku Hachi (Flute) artist who graduated from the Toho Gakuen College of Music and Drama majoring in Japanese Music. After graduating he started to work as a musician and a Shakuhachi Teacher in Own Classroom Tokyo. He has received many awards over the years. He won the 1st Prize and Gold prize in Traditional Japanese Music Competition, Solo Section, National Japanese Music Ensemble Association (Japan).
He gained official recognition from the Japanese Music Audition of Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) in 2009. He has performed in many countries like USA,UK and Rome.
Ms Kaho Irie, mother of Mr Yosuke Irie, is a Koto Grandmaster from the School of Ikuta and she has performed in many events while training the young players.
The audience were totally enchanted by the melodies which came form the traditional Japanese instruments! |
