Madam Ishikawa Yuko hosted a tea ceremony on 22 August 2025 at her residence, with the presence of Mr Kobori Sojitsu, the 13th Grand Master of Enshu Sado School. Her guests for the special event were Mdm Jazira Akhymbekova, wife of the Kazakhstan Ambassador to Singapore, Mdm Lee Ji Young, wife of the Korean Ambassador to Singapore, Mrs Anna Janet Mehta, wife of the British High Commissioner in Singapore and Mrs Susan Kim-Chomicka, wife of the Polish Ambassador to Singapore.
The ceremony was held in a calm atmosphere and was a wonderful opportunity for the guests to gain a deeper understanding of Sado, the Japanese way of tea. The Grand Master also explained in detail about the spiritual essence and history of Sado, as well as the background of each utensil used in the ceremony. Guests were very impressed with the Grand Master’s handwritten scroll 千里同風 (sen ri dou fuu) ― while it literally means “the same wind blows everywhere despite great distances” it is generally used to describe a peaceful society. The Grand Master chose this scroll with his intention to reflect his sincere wish for peace throughout the world.
