Enshuryu Tea Ceremony at Ambassador's Residence

H.E. Ambassador Hiroshi Ishikawa hosted a tea ceremony at his residence on 22 August 2024, with the presence of Mr Sojitsu Kobori, the 13th Grand Master of the Enshu Sado School. A group of Singaporean guests, including the President of The Japanese Cultural Society, Singapore, Professor Lai Ah Keow and Mrs Lai, as well as CEO of the National Gallery Singapore and Singapore Art Museum Dr Eugene Tan, attended the special event.

The ceremony was held in a calm atmosphere and was a wonderful opportunity for the guests to gain a deeper understanding of Sado, the Japanese way of tea. The Grand Master also provided insights to many questions posed by the guests and explained in detail about the spiritual essence and history of Sado, as well as the purpose of each utensil used in the ceremony. This event coincided with Mr Sojitsu Kobori’s annual teaching visit to Singapore at NUS, and the 35th anniversary of the Enshu Sado School at NUS.
