The opening ceremony of the photography exhibition “WA” : TANGE through the eyes of Russel Wong was held at JCC (Japan Creative Centre) on 1 August 2019 with an overwhelming number of guests.
H.E. Jun Yamazaki, Ambassador of Japan to Singapore, welcomed everyone with his opening speech. Architect and Chairman of Tange Associates, Mr Paul Noritaka Tange, then briefly explained how this collaboration between Tange Associates and Mr Russel Wong came about. This was followed by the speech by Guest-of-Honour, Chairman of Singapore Art Museum, Mr Edmund Cheng, who is very familiar with both Mr Wong and Mr Tange’s works.

Mr Wong expressed in his speech the excitement and appreciation for this exhibition to happen. He wanted the visitors to see the different interpretations expressed through his photography of the architectural works designed by both Kenzo Tange and Paul Noritaka Tange.
In support of Mr Wong’s exhibition, Japanese calligrapher Ms Soufu Honda created the exhibition title board WA using her creative calligraphy art on Washi Paper, and Sky Atlas Pte Ltd provided delicious Akita sake to the guests during the opening.
