Japan Creative Centre (JCC) and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) hosted the very first Sakura Exchange Program in Science Alumni Meeting at JCC on 19 March 2016, as part of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Singapore-Japan Diplomatic Relations (SJ50) this year.
The meeting brought together the participants of SSP from Dunman High School, River Valley High School and Singapore Polytechnic to share their experience during the exchange programme in Japan. Mr Naohiro Tsutsumi, Deputy Chief of Mission of Embassy of Japan, Mr Sin Kim Ho, Director of Science Branch of Ministry of Education, Singapore, as well as Mr Minoru Yasui from Science Promotion Office of JST graced the event and greeted the participants. |
Promoting Science & Technology is one of the key engines to materialise a bright future for Asia, as such it is vitally important to enhance youth exchanges between Asian countries and Japan who plays a crucial role in the field of Science & Technology. Sakura Exchange Program in Science, also known as Japan-Asia
Youth Exchange Program in Science, is launched based on the concept to such enhance youth exchanges through the close collaboration of industry-academia-government by facilitating short-term visits of competent Asian youths to Japan under the initiative of JST. The programme also aims to raise the interest of Asian youths toward the advanced Japanese Science & Technology at Japanese universities, research institutions and private companies.
More than 120 people from Singapore have been invited to Japan under the Sakura Exchange Program in Science since it was started by JST in 2014 fiscal year. |
