The Opening Ceremony of “Oshi-e and Kimekomi: The Art of Japanese Traditional Crafts” was held at JCC on 23 September 2025. JCC Deputy Director Mr Hamada Yuki and Mr Raymond Chan from Japanese Cultural Society Singapore (JCS) Creative Club welcomed the guests with their respective speeches. Both expressed their delight of how this exhibition celebrates the friendship between Japan and Singapore, as it features over 80 artworks made by members of the JCS Creative Club, many of whom are Singaporeans. Mr Raymond also gave a brief introduction about oshi-e and kimekomi.
This was followed by a live demonstration of oshi-e and kimekomi crafts, during which many guests asked questions regarding the two Japanese traditional crafts. Guests also had the opportunity to appreciate the exhibition at their own pace. The exhibition was held at JCC from 24 September – 1 October 2025.
