On 21 September 2024, students from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Architecture put up an exhibition about their fruitful and engaging learning experience in Japan. One exhibit focused on Public Bath Culture (銭湯文化), which provides a rich environment to study how non-conscious cognitive processes shape behaviour and interaction with the space. Another exhibit looked into Japan’s Disaster Preparedness Culture (防災文化) along the Tohoku coastline to learn from the Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction process. The students also gave presentations on their work, showing the audience what they have learned during the process and voicing their takeaways from the excursion-based workshops.

The exhibition and presentation allowed audience members to understand how important architecture is in bringing the community together and keeping them safe from disasters.

An exhibition focused on public bathhouses, also known as Sentō in Japan.

An exhibition focused on Japan’s Disaster Preparedness Culture, spanning across Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima prefectures.
