Konnichiwa!

Last month, JCC invited visitors to step into the world of chado, or the Way of Tea, as if stepping into a tearoom itself. I truly felt at peace and tranquil during this period, and I believe that everyone else felt the Zen spirit too. I was also delighted to see an overwhelming amount of interest in the subject and its related fields, be it during the guided tours of the exhibition, the ink painting workshops, or the tea ceremony demonstration. Chado is a traditional Japanese culture filled with various Japanese elements such as ceramics, flower arrangement, calligraphy and the spirit of hospitality. We were happy to have the opportunity to introduce the many facades of chado in Singapore. For those who wish to delve further, please do continue your learning journey even after the event.

This month, I am thrilled to invite film enthusiasts to our annual Japanese Film Festival! Co-organised with Singapore Film Society and The Japan Foundation, JCC is delighted to bring a diverse and exciting selection that showcase the best of Japanese contemporary and classic films. As an avid cinemagoer myself, I am personally looking forward to many of the films this year. I hope to see many people at the theatres enjoying the unique charms of Japanese film!

Besides that, Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135 will be holding an exhibition entitled ‘Autumn Sonata’ in the latter half of October. While we often associate flowers with spring, this time JCC will feature the warm colours of autumn. Please do drop by JCC to appreciate the elegant beauty of the fall season.
