As the summer heat starts to cool down and hazy air gives way to a clearer sky, JCC is heating up with the excitement of celebrating our 10th Anniversary! The Singapore Bunraku Steering Committee presents “Love and Mercy: Into the World of Bunraku” to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of JCC this month at Drama Centre Theatre (DCT)! Bunraku is one of the most refined forms of traditional Japanese arts and has been designated as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. We hope that this performance will inspire the Singaporean audience and nurture a better understanding of Japan and Japanese culture. The information of the tickets for the Bunraku Performance can be found here: https://www.sistic.com.sg/events/bunraku1019 We are also pleased to host a special lecture and demonstration of Bunraku at JCC on 22 October by the professional artisans who are performing in the Bunraku Performance at DCT. Do not miss this rare chance to get the first-hand experience of Bunraku from skilful performers from Japan. In October, the exclusive exhibition to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of JCC is held in cooperation with Manga Designers Lab at JCC. Significant events of JCC from the past decade are on display on a unique ‘moving manga design panel.’ This exhibition will serve as a perfect opportunity for both long-time supporters of JCC and new friends of JCC to appreciate our past events and get to know us better!
