As part of the exhibition ‘IKEBANA in Retrospect: Dialogue with Singapore Artists ~ An Ikebana exhibition by Ikebana International Singapore chapter 135 ~’, a workshop titled ‘Experimenting Art of Ikebana with Ryusei-ha’ was held on Friday, 21 September 2018 at JCC (Japan Creative Centre).

Under the guidance of workshop facilitator Ms Momoko Emmott, the participants learned how to create a simple Ikebana arrangement based on the Ryusei-ha style. Ms Momoko Emmott is a qualified Ryusei-ha free style master, and has won awards for being the ‘Best Newcomer’ in 1997 and the prestigious Ryu-ha Award from the Ryusei-ha Ikebana School in Japan, which is awarded only once every 10 years to a selected Ryusei-ha teacher. The participants experimented with various ways to create an interesting arrangement, and had an enjoyable time learning and receiving advice from Ms Momoko Emmott.
