JET Homecoming Gala

Group photo.
The JET Homecoming Gala was held in the evening of 5 October 2018 at the Japanese Association Singapore to welcome returnees from the JET Programme. The celebrations began with a welcome speech by Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan in Singapore and Director of JCC (Japan Creative Centre) Ms Akiko Sugita, and also one by the Executive Director of CLAIR Singapore, Mr Kazunori Amari.

After the welcome speeches, this year’s returnees were introduced. Each of them worked in different prefectures, cities, and towns and had very different but enjoyable experiences. Ms Mamta Sachan Kumar, a new returnee, shared her experience as an ALT in Nagasaki prefecture. Ms Cheryl Phua, President of JETAA Singapore, also shared her experiences as a CIR in Fukuoka prefecture in order to let the guests know about their work. Then Ms Cheryl Phua made a toast speech, and everyone raised their glasses to the JET Programme.

Some JET returnees were then interviewed about their experiences on stage, after which, there was a networking session during which the JET returnees could get to know the local community of Japanese companies as well as JET Programme alumni better.

We hope that the returnees had a fruitful and fulfilling time while they were in Japan, and will continue to use what they have learnt in their experience in their future endeavours.
