We have the pleasure of showcasing the buoyant masterpieces of a Japanese contemporary fine art artist, Ms Tomomi Nitta. Inspired by the nature and landscape of the beautiful garden city, Singapore that she fell in love with, she entitled her exhibition, ‘Hanging Gardens’ by Ms Tomomi Nitta. The exhibition features six sets of paintings, comprised of multiple canvases as well as a video projection. |
Ms Tomomi Nitta is a contemporary fine art artist who pursues the expression of the uncertainty of human existence — an existence both obscure and beyond our imagination. She has held multiple shows in Japan, Singapore, and the US. These include the Yuka Tsuruno Gallery in Tokyo, Embassy of France in Japan, Art Stage Singapore, Hillyer Art Space in Washington DC, and the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center in Maryland.

On Friday, 14th October 2016 we held an opening ceremony of her exhibition. During the ceremony, our JCC Director Ms Misako Ito shared her thoughts on Ms Nitta’s works:
“Her works are truly inspirational and endorses a continuous development of Japanese contemporary fine art we should all take note of. I hope that this exhibition will inspire Singaporeans to live their imagination through art and hopefully one day, we will be able to view the unique perspective of your art form.”
|
Thereafter, Ms Nitta gave a few words on how she hopes to continue living her passion and inspire others to do the same. The speeches were followed by a mingling session with the audience. The Hanging Gardens exhibition will run till Saturday, November 12th 2016.
