JCC held a series of shogi workshops for beginners and experienced shogi players once again on 4 April. Under the guidance of six professional shogi players from Japan Shogi Association, participants of all ages enjoyed the fascinating world of shogi. Beginners learnt the basics of shogi and practised in an exciting open match, while experienced participants had the rare opportunity to play against one of the six professional shogi players.

The two competitors of the 11th Eiou Championship, Mr Ito Takumi (Eiou) and Mr Saito Shintaro, made a surprise appearance during both sessions. They expressed their delight regarding the growing interest in shogi in Singapore, especially in the commemorative year of SJ60.
