Did you know that a book celebrating the enduring friendship between Singapore and Japan has recently been launched?

Co-edited by Professor Tommy Koh, Ambassador-at-large of Singapore, and Ambassador of Japan to Singapore Mr Ishikawa Hiroshi, "The Land of the Rising Sun and the Lion City - The Story of Japan and Singapore" beautifully chronicles the multifaceted bilateral relations between the two countries through 68 essays. Among them, Japan Creative Centre is also featured!

In her essay, JCC Director Kawabe reflects on the establishment and flourishing of JCC’s activities over the past 15 years, and describes the beauty and joy of cultural exchanges through the diverse charms of Japan, which foster mutual understanding and friendship.

Moreover, this compilation volume boasts contributions from an array of distinguished personalities, including familiar faces and respected partners of JCC. Esteemed contributors who have lent their voices include: Enshuryu Sado School Grand Master Kobori Sojitsu, renowned architect Paul Noritaka Tange, former Chairman of Albirex Niigata FC Singapore Korenaga Daisuke, Department of Japanese Studies, National University of Singapore professors Lim Beng Choo and Thang Leng Leng, award-winning film director Eric Khoo, Singapore Film Society Chairman Kenneth Tan, master potter Iskandar Jalil, comparative theatre expert Yow Wei Meng, Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135, The Japanese Cultural Society Singapore President Lai Ah Keow and Aikido Shinju-Kai Founder Philip Lee Shihan, just to name a few.

The launch event on 2 April was honoured by the presence of Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, adding a touch of prestige to the occasion. JCC extends its heartfelt thanks to Professor Tommy Koh for his commendatory speech acknowledging JCC’s role in fostering friendship between Singapore and Japan!
