Director's Message

Konnichiwa!

It was an exciting month at JCC, as we organised the ‘I Love Sushi’ traveling exhibition in collaboration with The Japan Foundation. I am sure that many Singaporeans associate Japan with delicious sushi, but not many may know about its fascinating history and culture. I believe that the more you know about the story behind sushi, the deeper you will appreciate it. For those who have yet to drop by, I invite you all to step past the noren (doorway curtains) as you would for a sushi restaurant, and explore the wonderful world of sushi!

Seafood is a critical element when it comes to sushi. In conjunction with the exhibition, there was also a seafood seminar and tasting held together with JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) Singapore and MAFF (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries). We will also be featuring the sushi robot on one of the Saturdays. For those curious if sushi made by a sushi robot tastes any different from sushi made by a chef, be sure to join us then! I would like to hear from the participants how it tastes.

Moreover, we are giving away Japan-related prizes everyday to lucky visitors who complete our feedback form. This is only during the exhibition period until 18 May, and there are a limited number of prizes each day, while stocks last. So I look forward to seeing everyone at JCC!
