As the tail end of spring, May brings with it pleasantly warm weather and many sunny days. It is an action-packed month, with holidays like Children’s Day and Golden Week taking place. Usually, this would provide an opportunity for families to spend more time together while enjoying the last bits of springtime weather. However this year, celebrations will have to be spent indoors.
Just as spring ends, my time here at JCC has also sadly come to a close. Very soon, I will be leaving Singapore for my next post. It has been an invaluable experience being at JCC, and I immensely enjoyed being part of such a wide variety of events. I was also fortunate enough to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of JCC; it was heartening, for myself and the entire JCC team, to see so many of you coming together to celebrate this milestone and enjoying yourselves just as you have at our regular JCC events.
I am truly grateful for the strong support that I have received throughout my years here, and I would be glad if you could please give my successor the same support that you have shown me. I hope that our Friends of JCC will continue to be curious about Japan, and look forward to the various exciting activities that JCC will go on to organise.
During this transitory period, JCC will be promoting more interesting topics in Japan, so please do read this month’s articles for an insight into sento murals and Japanese coffee culture! Refreshing posts of various themes are also posted regularly on the Facebook pages of the Embassy of Japan in Singapore and JCC, so do remember to follow these pages!
We also encourage everyone to continue staying safe at home and keeping yourselves healthy. The latest updates on the COVID-19 situation can be found on the Embassy’s homepage here https://www.sg.emb-japan.go.jp/itprtop_en/index.html and on our Facebook pages so please bookmark these pages to stay up to date! We look forward to welcoming all of you back at JCC once the situation takes a turn for the better.
Once again, I would like to thank everyone for making my time in Singapore so enjoyable and for gifting me many precious memories. I hope to have the opportunity to see all of you, either in Singapore or Japan, soon!
