Konnichiwa

March is a month of departures in Japan. Schools hold graduation ceremonies, sending off students to their next stage in life and government offices closes its fiscal year.

In addition, with a heavy heart, I have to share that our Ambassador Haruhisa Takeuchi is leaving Singapore for Japan after his much devoted diplomatic service for 2 years and 5 months here.  On behalf of all our staff at JCC, I would like you, our readers and friends of JCC, to join me in bidding farewell to our Ambassador in appreciation for his strong support and compassionate participations in our cultural and creative outreach events for the past months. Let us wish him further successful and fruitful days and years ahead.

Our current photo exhibition, 'OYAKO: Present to the Future' by professional photographer Bruce Osborn inspires many visitors here at JCC. We feel honoured and privileged to be able to present this showcase as a commemorating event of the 5th anniversary of Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011. By dedicating our thoughts to those victims, we are sincerely thankful and appreciative of the big hand Singapore has extended back then and for their solidarity with us.

As the end of the year means the beginning of the new year, we look forward to our new year filled with exciting SJ50 events and similarly, to those who are entering into their new life stages, all the best!

Check out our new SJ50 Matsuri brochure here as well!

See you soon,
