Students from Singapore Management University (SMU) gave insightful presentations at JCC last Saturday about what they learnt and experienced in their study trip to Japan last December. In one presentation, they discussed perceptions of gendered occupations in the workforces of Singapore and Japan. In another presentation, they explored how environmental influences shape opinions on gender equality in Japan in comparison to the situation in Singapore. The session ended with an engaging Q&A session, with the students also sharing what they enjoyed most about Japan as well as their personal goals for encouraging diversity.
Their visit to Japan was part of the "Managing Diversity in Asia" course, offered by SMU School of Social Sciences (SOSS). During their stay in Japan, the students had shared and discussed their research findings with Japanese students, and also visited private companies to learn about diversity management.
