Dear Friends of JCC,
Konnichiwa!
February was yet another enriching month, starting with a stage of classical music by Aoi Trio. It was a delight to have the three young talented musicians perform world’s well-known pieces at JCC to a full house. Despite the rainy weather, their youthful energy and passionate performance certainly enraptured everyone and warmed the hearts.
It was also our pleasure to jointly host the SSEAYP (Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme) Homecoming Event together with SSEAYP International Singapore, the first one ever since COVID-19. JCC is committed to supporting people-to-people exchanges, and once again, I could observe in the Homecoming Event that this programme is a wonderful opportunity for youths from Japan and Southeast Asian countries to build long-lasting ties. It was announced that the SSEAYP programme will resume the cruise from Japan to ASEAN countries onboard Nippon Maru this year, so I highly encourage anyone interested to apply for it!
Last but not least, we had the privilege of inviting two renowned Japanese athletes, Dr Koji Murofushi, an Olympic gold medallist and Commissioner of Sports Agency of Japan, and Mr Akira Hino, a martial arts master, aka Hino Tatsujin. They shared valuable insights and experiences to a full house physically at The Japanese Association, Singapore, as well as online on JCC Facebook. It was a truly engaging evening, with both adults and children asking compelling questions during the Q&A session.
