Picture book artists and curators from Singapore and Japan came together for a panel talk themed “The Worlds We Share- Peace and Friendship Through Picture Books” on Saturday, 23 May, at the National Library. Organised as part of the Asian Festival of Children's Content (AFCC), the event also marked the opening of a 4-week long picture book exhibition at JCC, curated by the Chihiro Art Museum and the Singapore Book Council in commemoration of SJ60. JCC Director Kawabe Akiko delivered the opening remarks at the panel.
The panel, featuring curator David Liew and artist Priscilla Tey, Japanese artist duo The Cabin Company and curator Michiko Matsukata, reflected together on how art made for children can offer a vision of the world we hope to build for everyone.
The Peace and Friendship Picture Book Exhibition runs until 20 June 2026 at JCC. Come and see the beautiful artworks and books from the artists’ collection!
