Gum Disease Uncovered: Learn it! Stop it! A lecture on periodontal disease by Prof. Shinya Murakami, DDS was held at JCC on Saturday, 14 June 2025. Prof. Murakami, who is the Professor Emeritus of the Department of Periodontology, Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry, not only explained about the condition of periodontal disease, or gum disease, but also shared about the crucialness in the prevention and early treatment of the disease for maintaining a healthy life.
Coupled with vivid images and graphics, participants were able to clearly understand and comprehend from the Professor the complexity of periodontal disease and its relationship with oral and dental health – how the disease serves as a risk factor for a variety of systemic diseases, such as diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. A wide range of questions were raised to Prof. Murakami during the Q&A session, and many of the participants continued to stay even after the lecture to seek for advice and answers from the Professor. |
