The opening ceremony began with a speech by JCC Director Ms Akiko Sugita. Coincidentally, Ms Sugita and Ms Terada used to be classmates in high school. She shared with the guests how wonderful it was to have their lives intertwine again in Singapore, far from where they first met in adolescence.
