On 20 December, the Japanese Film Festival 2023 (JFF2023) Closing Ceremony was held in conjunction with the Pokka Coffee Short Film Award Presentation. Awards were presented to the filmmakers who submitted their films for the competition. The filmmakers also participated in a Directors’ Forum and shared about their filmmaking process as well as their visions for the future.
In his opening speech, Mr Kenneth Tan, Chairman of Singapore Film Society, expressed his gratefulness for the support that JFF has been receiving over the past 40 years. He also mentioned the meaningful new partnerships that have been fostered in JFF – such as the one with POKKA – and hoped to connect with more people in future iterations.
In attendance was also JCC Director, Ms Akiko Kawabe, who highlighted the many firsts that JFF has achieved in its 40th year. She also commended and celebrated the growth of JFF as well as its contribution in nurturing Singapore-Japan friendship and cooperation.
Thank you for supporting JFF2023 and do look forward to enjoying more Japanese films in JFF2024!
