On 8th December 2018, JCC presented a special programme that combined JCC Cinema with a tourism event by Akita Inu Tourism. Representatives from Akita Inu Tourism flew in from Japan to share with audiences more information about the charms of Akita Prefecture through videos and pamphlets. They also made a special dish, called Kiritampo, using ingredients that they had brought over from Akita. Made of mashed rice and cooked in a chicken stew, Kiritampo is a dish that is unique to Akita Prefecture, and guests enjoyed trying it with the stew or plain with miso paste.

Later in the afternoon, JCC presented the documentary film “Never-Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki” as part of JCC Cinema. A representative from Akita Inu Tourism shared with the movie guests some facts about Akita, including the fact that the renowned filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki is known to have drawn inspiration from the picturesque scenery of Akita Prefecture in his films. After the brief sharing session, there was a mini quiz session where guests could win exclusive Akita Inu Tourism prizes if they answered the given questions correctly.
