The Embassy of Japan in Singapore celebrated His Majesty Emperor Akihito’s 85th Birthday on 6 December at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. The Grand Ballroom was filled with 869 distinguished guests who gathered with His Excellency Ambassador Jun Yamazaki and Guest-of-Honour, Singapore’s Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Education, Her Excellency Minister Indranee Rajah to celebrate the occasion.

Food and beverage producers from Japan kindly offered their specialties at the reception. These included cheese cake from Hokkaido, kiritanpo from Akita Inu Tourism , peach juice, Japanese sake, vegetables and fruits from Fukushima Prefecture, Japanese sake and gluten free donuts from Ibaraki Prefecture, Japanese sake from Japan Gastronomy Club, Niigata Prefecture and Fukui Prefecture, green tea from Shizuoka Prefecture, yuzu juice from Kochi Prefecture, mandarin oranges from Kumamoto Prefecture, Orion Beer and awamori from Okinawa Prefecture, Japanese red and white wine from GRACE WINERY of Chuo-Budoushu, Japanese rice by ZEN-NOH International Asia, Toyo Rice, TAWARAYA, seafood and rice wine vinegar & fruits from Find Pte Ltd, sushi from Tomi Sushi, Japanese ramen and potato chips from Nissin Singapore, draft beer from Kirin Holdings, Japanese tea from ITO EN Singapore, handmade sweets from ABC Cooking Studio Singapore Pte Ltd. These Japanese delicacies received high praise from the guests.

Bonsai from Kyoto Omuro Singapore, and lacquerware from SmileBox.jp were also displayed at the venue.

We also received continuous kind support from Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135 for the Ikebana flower arrangements.
