～間～ The MA Project: A joint exhibition by Ms Sachiyo Sharma & Ms Sunaina Bhalla was officially opened by our JCC Director Ms Akiko Sugita on Friday, 19 January 2016. H.E. Mohamed Abulkheir, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Guillaume Kavaruganda, High Commissioner of Rwanda, Mr Neal Manilal Chandaria, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kenya and other distinguish guests graced the opening held at JCC (Japan Creative Centre).

Curated by Dr Gauri Krishnan, Former Director of Indian Heritage Centre in Singapore, the exhibition demonstrated the creativity and close interaction between the artists of both countries. Featuring the Japanese concept of ‘MA’ which means ‘void’ or ‘space’ that is observed in all forms of Japanese arts and even in their daily lives, the artists further explored the impermanence of life, evanescence of life forms, emergence of calmness using materials like woven linen paper, cocoons, cotton cord, and surgical pins, through intense yet meditative creative processes.
