The first overseas premiere of 映画『親のお金は誰のもの 法定相続人』(The Pearl Legacy) was held at Our Tampines Hub Festive Arts Theatre on 26 November. Co-organised by JCC, Singapore Film Society, Pearl Falco and KickSmash21, the heart-warming movie treated the audience to the beautiful views of Ise Shima in Mie Prefecture.
The mayor of Shima City, Mr. Masayoshi Hashizume, attended the premiere with officials from Ise Shima. During his opening speech, he addressed the conservation and sustainability efforts which are currently being carried out to combat climate change and preserve the longstanding tradition of pearl farming in Ise Shima.
Producer of ‘The Pearl Legacy’, Mr. Tomoaki Azuma from KickSmash21, talked about his motivations for creating the film and shared his passion for promoting his hometown of Ise-Shima to the world. He also surprised everyone with the Merlion memorabilia hidden in one of the scenes in the film.
After the screening , Mr. Azuma and Ms. Maiko Makito, co-founder of Pearl Falco, quizzed the audience on their knowledge of the film and gave away prizes. They also answered curious questions during the Q&A and left members of the audience with a willingness to experience the beauty of Ise Shima for their own.
Ms. Makito added that, “In the face of the formidable challenges posed by global warming and an ageing population affecting Akoya pearl production in Japan, this event served as a platform to underscore our commitment to fostering a sustainable tradition and culture. The film effectively highlighted the resilience and determination within our community to uphold these values.”
