Japan Creative Centre (JCC) hosted a talk on “Dive Deep into Ise Shima” on Saturday, 25 November 2023. Held as part of the exhibition “Icon of Sustainability – Ise Shima ~ Grand Prix of Akoya Pearl Jewellery 2023 Singapore Edition ~”, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the rich history, culture, and natural beauty of Japan’s Ise Shima region in Mie Prefecture.
Mr. Junichi Nishimura and Mr. Matsunori Mino from the Ise City Tourism Association firstly spoked about where Ise Shima is and what the region has to offer, such as the nature of Ise Shima National Park, the sanctity of the Grand Shrine of Ise, as well as its people and festivities. They also talked about their sustainable efforts in producing, planning, reusing/recycling, and consuming the construction materials when the shrine is rebuilt every 20 years. Mr. Eikei Suzuki, Member of Parliament and former Governor of Mie Prefecture also presented his greetings to Singapore through a video message.
Following which, one of the representatives from IK Chin Travel and Centour Travel also shared about how one can travel around Ise Shima through their suggested itinerary. The talk ended with a giveaway quiz and participants were also able to exclusively sample some of Ise Shima’s signature food, such as Ise udon, Matsuzaka beef, Satsuma-age, and Wagashi.
