We are finally in the last stretch of a very fulfilling 2019 for JCC.
JCC presented a wide variety of programmes in celebration of its 10th Anniversary this year. It was heartening to see so many people coming together and participating in our events with common interest in Japan and Japanese culture.
Even after the JCC10 highlight of Bunraku performance in October, we did not slow down in presenting an array of interesting Japan-related events. In November, a unique two-part exhibition was held at JCC in collaboration with the organisers of the Tsubame-Sanjo Factory Festival and Niigata Prefecture. The charms of the region enchanted the visitors who tasted variety of food samples and took part in hands-on metalworking workshops.
A panel discussion “Protecting Society from Cyber Threat” drew people who were rightly interested in this topic, most relevant to our digital society where this threat is becoming an increasingly grave concern.
Our family-friendly JCC Cinema series also featured the film, “Dad’s Lunch Box,” that warmed hearts of many in the rainy, cool weather of late November.
I am pleased to note, to conclude the celebratory year and to kick off an exciting journey towards the next decade, JCC, the Japan Foundation Asia Center and NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], will co-host “Open Possibilities: Art and Technology Exhibition in Japan and Southeast Asia” in December.
During the school holidays, JCC will present a manga workshop by local manga artist Evangeline Neo at Woodlands Regional Library, and Japanese films at Japan Rail Café’s “Kira Kira Wonderland event”!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the partners and friends of JCC for their strong support in the past decade and ask for your continued partnership and friendship in the next decade to come!
For the details of our upcoming events, do look out on our website and Facebook page and follow us on our Instagram (@japancreativecentre)! Do also follow the Embassy of Japan’s Facebook page too for more Japan-related information.
We wish everyone a happy holiday season and a happy new year 2020!
