The opening event of Port Cities: Multicultural Emporiums of Asia, 1500–1900 was held at ACM (Asian Civilisations Museum) on Thursday, 3rd November 2016. H. E. Ambassador Kenji Shinoda and Madam Yuko Shinoda graced the event and this special exhibition that paints a picture of life through photographs, paintings, fashion, luxury goods, and everyday objects related to port cities in various countries including Japan.

Mr Tetsuya Yamazaki, the Chef at the Japanese Ambassador’s Residence presented to the guests Washoku (和食), the Japanese cuisine which has a close link to Japanese ports that are featured at the exhibition. He showcased the Japanese Autumn in Hassun, and following which, guests had the opportunity to enjoy hands-on session after the demonstration.
