As part of the SJ50 supported event, on Friday, January 15th Bach enthusiasts were all ears to the classics by legendary conductor Masaaki Suzuki, organised by the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM). Suzuki, being one of the leading directors of Bach, the Concert Hall of YSTCM saw a full house of over 500 guests.

The legendary Baroque conductor during the night of his performance opened with Cantata ‘Wer Dank opfert, der preiset mich’ BWV17, followed by a Concerto for two violins, strings and continuo in D minor BWV1043, Cantata ‘Ich armer Mensch, ich Sündenknecht’ BWV55 and lastly, Cantata ‘Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben’ BWV147.

Together with concertmaster Ryo Terakado of the Bach Collegium in Japan and acclaimed violinist at the Royal Conservertoire in Hague, their performances were joined by Conservatory vocals and instrumental students as well as peers from Hague. Truly the Baroque concert of the year, the concert heard nothing, but wild applauses from the audience.
