The Orientation & Farewell Reception for the 2026 participants from Singapore was held on 15 July 2026 at Japan Creative Centre. The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, launched by the Government of Japan in 1987, is one of the world’s largest international people-to-people exchange programmes. It aims to enhance foreign language education and promote grassroots exchanges between Japan and participating countries at the local level.

This year, 19 Singaporeans will be embarking on this exciting journey, assigned to various prefectures across Japan. At the event, they expressed their excitement and passion about starting a new chapter in Japan. During the networking session, they had meaningful conversations with representatives from the JET Alumni Association (JETAA Singapore), J.CLAIR Singapore, the Japanese School Singapore, SSEAYP International Singapore, and Department of Japanese Studies, National University of Singapore, all of whom also attended to extend their warm wishes and farewell to the new JETs.

We wish them all the very best as they set off on this remarkable adventure!
