The Opening Ceremony of “The Spirit of Tea in Clay” was held at JCC on 28 July, featuring Shigaraki and Raku ceramics by two ceramic masters, Honiwa Rakunyu III and Yoshimura Rakunyu III. JCC Director Ms Kawabe Akiko welcomed the guests, noting that their works demonstrate a shared richness of expression and the beauty of utility that Japanese ceramics embodies. The two artists also addressed a full house of guests, sharing insights into the art of their respective pottery school.
Guests had the opportunity to appreciate the artistic beauty and functional elegance of the ceramics on display. The exhibition is ongoing at JCC until today, with tea ceremonies conducted by OMOTE-SENKE International Sado Association Singapore, using tea ceramics by the two artists.
