The Orientation & Farewell Reception for the 2024 JET Programme participants from Singapore was held on 18 July 2024 at Japan Creative Centre. The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme began in 1987 to promote grassroots exchanges between Japan and other countries, and it is one of the world’s largest international people-to-people exchange programmes. It aims to deepen mutual understanding, enhance foreign language education, and develop international exchange at the local level in Japan. During self-introductions, some new JET participants expressed their passion for hiking, exploring nature and learning Japanese in Japan.

This year, a total of 20 Singaporeans join the programme. During the networking session, the new JET participants, had fruitful interactions with JET Alumni Association (JETAA) Singapore members, representatives from J.CLAIR Singapore and related prefectures, the Japanese School Singapore, the Japanese Association Singapore, SSEAYP International Singapore, JCS, NTU, NUS and SUSS. We hope that all of them will have a memorable and fruitful experience in Japan!
