On 1 July, JCC held an Ishikawa Prefecture promotional event featuring the various charms of the prefecture, including delicious sake. JCC was honoured to have the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, who joined the full house to get to know more about Ishikawa Prefecture.

1 July marked exactly half a year since the devastating earthquake hit the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture on 1 January this year. In his opening remarks, H.E. Ambassador Hiroshi Ishikawa expressed his deep appreciation to the presence of DPM Heng and the kindness and friendship shown by Singaporeans in rebuilding the lives of the Ishikawa people.

Following the opening remarks, a message by the Governor of Ishikawa Prefecture, Mr Hiroshi Hase, was read by the prefectural office on his behalf. The message conveyed a strong will towards recovery, expressed gratitude to the participants and the people of Singapore, and also introduced Japanese sake, one of the prefecture’s specialties.

Aside from an insightful presentation on the beauty of Ishikawa and the resilience of the people following the earthquake, the highlight of the event was a sake tasting of 9 different types of sake prepared by Fukumitsuya Brewery. Guests thoroughly enjoyed the profound world of flavours offered by sake from Ishikawa.

You may check this video for the highlights of the event too.
