Konnichiwa!
The ‘To the Forest of Verbs with “MUJI IS”’ exhibition was extremely successful and came to a close at the end of July. It was a delight to have hosted it at JCC for over a month, welcoming throngs of visitors every week to our serene space at the edge of the bustling Orchard area. As you may already know, JCC was the first overseas venue for the exhibition. I am pleased to share that it will be exhibiting at Malaysia next, and in other countries afterwards. MUJI’s design philosophy is most inspiring, and the exhibition is a great way for more people to appreciate its simple-looking products at a deeper level.
Besides that, it was also wonderful to be able to hold the Japanese Speech Contest with a physical audience this year. The lively atmosphere was most welcoming, with all of the finalists giving very impressive and thoughtful speeches. It certainly gave me much to ponder about, and I hope this event not only encourages more people to learn Japanese language, but also motivates people who are currently learning the language.
This month, JCC is proud to present a solo exhibition by Dr Iskandar Jalil, together with Tembusu Art Gallery. Through this exhibition, Dr Iskandar looks back on his extensive travel journeys and how in turn, they have influenced his pottery journey. I myself look forward to seeing the exhibits and unique anecdotes behind each piece.
Anime lovers should also not miss the upcoming JCC Cinema screening! We are excited to show the extremely popular JUJUTSU KAISEN: ZERO movie at Our Tampines Hub, where we have previously collaborated with numerous times. I hope to see a full house on the day itself!
