Konnichiwa!
Singapore's National Day is right around the corner! Although it is regrettable that I will be unable to attend one of the country's famous National Day Parades this year, it does hearten me to see that Singaporeans still take much pride in their country, especially their food! Recently, I was introduced to kaya toast and laksa by local staff, and enjoyed both of these dishes very much. I look forward to trying more Singaporean dishes during my stay here. I welcome your recommendations!
As it will also take a while before events can be held in full at JCC, we have been working to share interesting Japan-related articles here and on our social media pages. Perhaps you may have seen some of our articles detailing interesting information about unique practices, events, and cultural information about Japan on our Facebook page. We will prepare a new series highlighting stories of people and events that present the bond that Japan and Singapore share with each other. It is our hope that these articles will help to deepen the understanding between Japanese and Singaporeans, and reinforce the longstanding friendship and mutual cooperation shared by the two countries.
At JCC, we are hard at work revamping the e-library. On top of the plethora of books and travel brochures we have, we hope to create a value-added experience for visitors who wish to learn more about Japan. With that goal in mind, we will preparing a special corner dedicated to interesting and unique information about various prefectures in Japan, with a twist! This corner will also feature many of our past events at JCC to provide you with new insights on different aspects of Japan. Do visit us to check this new space out once we are able to open our premises to visitors once again! We will be sharing a glimpse of it on our JCC Facebook page too, so do stay tuned!
In the meantime, we encourage everyone to practice safe distancing and good hygiene habits, and we look forward to welcoming all our Friends of JCC back for more events soon! Remember to follow the Embassy of Japan in Singapore on Facebook, as well as JCC's Facebook and Instagram pages to stay connected with us, and for interesting glimpses into Japanese culture.
