A farewell send-off reception for the 2019 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program participants from Singapore was held on 26 July 2019. His Excellency Ambassador Jun Yamazaki hosted the reception, and gave a short speech.

A total of 36 participants from Singapore will be joining this year’s JET Programme. Members of the JET Alumni Association (JETAA) as well as staff of the Japan Council of Local Authorities for International Relationships (J.CLAIR Singapore) attended the occasion and gave their best wishes for the participants

The JET Programme was started in 1987 to promote grassroots exchanges between Japan and other countries in the world. It aims to enhance foreign language education and promote international exchange at the local level in Japan, through the fostering of ties between Japanese and foreign youths. The cumulative number of JET Programme participants has reached over 68,000. First JET participant from Singapore was in 1999. Singaporean participants have been received warmly over the years. Hoping all of this year’s participants will have the same wonderful experience!
