A farewell reception for the 2017 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme participants from Singapore was held at the Japanese Association, Singapore (JAS) on Friday, 21st July 2017. His Excellency Ambassador Kenji Shinoda hosted the reception and delivered a short speech to all of the guests.
A total of 38 participants from Singapore will be taking part in this year’s JET Programme. Together with them, members of the JET Alumni Association (JETAA), executives from JAS, Japanese University Graduates Association of Singapore (JUGAS) and the Japanese Cultural Society (JCS), principals and teaching staffs of the Japanese schools in Singapore, as well as the staffs of the Japan Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (J. CLAIR Singapore) graced the occasion to give their best wishes for the participants.

The JET Programme started in 1987 to promote grassroots exchanges between Japan and other countries in the world. It aims to enhance foreign language education and promote international exchange at the local level, through the fostering of ties between Japanese youth and foreign youth alike. The number of the JET Programme participants has reached over 62,000 from around the globe. The JET programme will have a total of 38 participants from Singapore this year, which is the largest number ever since the first Singaporean was dispatched in 1999. We hope that all of them will have a wonderful JET experience in Japan!
