A pre-departure orientation for selected Singaporean participants at the upcoming Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme was conducted on Friday, 7 July 2017 at JCC (Japan Creative Centre). Ms Junko Minagawa, Third Secretary of Embassy of Japan in Singapore, commenced the orientation by briefing them on general information about the programme, as well as details on their departure and stay in Japan.

After which, two former JET participants, Ms Sky Chan and Ms Cheryl Phua shared their experiences staying and working in Japan under the programme, and answered some of the questions from the participants. Following which, the participants mingled to know one another before dispatched to different prefectures and cities in Japan. Some representatives from CLAIR Singapore also attended the orientation.

One of the largest exchange programmes in the world that aims to promote grass-roots international exchange between Japan and the other nations, JET Programme will have a total of 38 participants from Singapore this year, which is the largest number ever since the first Singaporean was dispatched in 1999.
