On 20 March 2025, Japan Creative Centre along with Singapore Tourism Board and Kingsmen Creatives co-organised an exclusive event spotlighting the Osaka Expo 2025 and the Singapore Pavilion. The special event also marked the Singapore introduction of the Dream Messenger Origami Campaign.
The event was honored by the presence of Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Trade and Industry, who attended as the Guest of Honour.
Ambassador Ishikawa Hiroshi opened the event, warmly welcoming all the attendees and expressing his excitment for the upcoming opening of the Osaka EXPO and the Singapore Pavilion, both of which will significantly enhance Singapore-Japan relations. Minister of State Alvin Tan emphasized the robust bilateral ties and introduced the Singapore Pavillion. The event continued with an introduction of the Dream Sphere, and plans for performances by various Singaporean artists as well as the artworks to be showcased at the pavilion.
A heartwarming moment of the event was when Ambassador Ishikawa and Minister of State Alvin Tan contributed to the origami folding to complete Sunny-chan, a character modelled after Singapore-native Crimson Sunbird, and penned their wishes on it. The origami campaign, set to launch in April, invites people to make the origami Sunny-chan and write down their dreams, which Sunny-chan will carry to Osaka!
